The Game Returns

I suspect a lot of you were glued to your TVs last night to watch the return of Game of Thrones for it's seventh season. It didn't disappoint. Loved the opening scene. Loved Jon and Sansa acting like brother and sister even though they're only cousins. I liked seeing everything coming together and the characters finally being all on the same continent. Things I'm still looking forward to is the meeting of characters like Jon and Daenerys and when can all the Starks please get together. And can Littlefinger finally get what he has coming? And isn't Jon being a wise king so far. And how about Jamie's opinion of the Greyjoy's? Don't we all agree?

Check out this interesting article about authors bullying other authors. I've seen it happen but never knew anyone personally involved. We need to support each other. Anne R. Allen speaks from experience about this. We need to support each other. In light of that, here's a new book from my CPRW friend:
Into the Fire by Vicki Smith
In Olivia Sanders' world, people like her don't survive very long. Special abilities are a threat to the corrupt government and those loyal. Olivia and those with similar abilities struggle to keep their secrets as new laws threaten them daily. Though hiding isn't enough for Olivia. A healer and firestarter, she works with the resistance to ensure the safety of the people of her sector, toiling in an unforgiving world without freedom or hope with the goal that someday they will find both.
Poisoned by someone she should never have trusted, betrayed by her godfather, the former governor, who is using disturbing methods to control the population and grow his army, Olivia is forced to seek help from Luke Jamison, the leader of the resistance. They join forces with his brother, Matt, and Jillian Derrick, a hard-as-nails woman leading a band of "undesirables" to safety.
As conditions in the sector deteriorate and the death toll climbs ever higher, Olivia and Luke, Jillian and Matt, cling to the miracle of found love while facing the horror of a future without each other.

Did five hours of cleaning out and packing things for Goodwill. At least two dozen coffee mugs, a dozen wine glasses, and thirty vases. When you have six children, you get a lot of 'best mom' style mugs as they're growing up. Every child bought me a coffee mug or wine glass when they were in college. So yes, I have Penn State, Gettysburg College, Boston University, and University of Pittsburgh. Now they're bringing stuff from work. LOL

Did you enjoy the first episode of Game of Thrones? Have you supported some of your author friends lately? Known anyone to get attacked by author bullies? Do gifts collect in your house? Need a coffee mug? Hardly used.

  1. I have never heard of the above TV programme but from your post is sounds really good, excellent to read Susan.

  2. Won't be watching Game of Thrones until the season ends.
That would be a lot of mugs. We don't even have kids and yet ours seem to breed on the shelves.

  3. Our kids keep the number of such items down by regularly leaving them where the cats knock them over and break them.

There is no excuse for bullying. The fact is, someone else's success does not detract from my ability to succeed, too. Most bullies think there's only so much room at the top, so they try to knock everyone else down. They are wrong on many, many levels.

  4. Yes, I loved the first episode of Games of Throne. I'm keeping HBO until this season ends. Awesome you de-cluttered. I'm working on that too.

  5. Yeh, GoT!!!! All I could think about was why is Littlefinger still at Winterfell?! And not two seconds later, Brienne asks Sansa the same thing! So many reasons why I love Brienne. :)

  6. I've only seen pieces parts of Game of Thrones. I just don't have much time for TV anymore.

We recently bought two special racks for hanging mugs, both for looks and to free up some cupboard space. We now have over 70 mugs hanging and there are still some on the shelf.

  7. Nope, not a GOT watcher. Rented a few episodes from the library and didn't really enjoy them although I enjoyed the books. I too have lots of mugs and wine glasses. Like Alex, no kids, but they just accumulate anyway.

  8. I heard there were parties a la Academy Awards with special food and costumes. I'd be the odd woman out at any of these, I'm afraid because I've seen one episode of GOT and that was by accident.

  9. Thanks for the shout-out for my post, Susan! And congrats on the de-cluttering. I so much need to do that!

  10. My ocd likes a good de-cluttering. I've known some bullies that go after other authors, but ignore the trolls tend to work. Not sure when I'll watch Game of Thrones, may save all episodes to watch in a row.

  11. There seems to be a lot of bullying going on lately, not just in the writing world. People always think that they must be right so it's justified...

  12. Never did see Game of Thrones, but like I might have mentioned, hubby owns the remote here so I rarely get to watch what I might find interesting. Its okay though; keeps me on the computer more. When we were downsizing hubby's parents' house, they must have had over 100 coffee mugs crammed into a very tiny space. She was a teacher, so you imagine how many cups had the variation of teacher on it. We kept what we needed, but finally just this past year we got new glassware. Still in the process of finding coffee mugs that we like, but downsized them to about 6 mugs. Right now we aren't really entertaining and the dishes get washed enough that we never run out of coffee mugs.

  13. Yes Finally the GOT is returned with more surprises and more expectations. After the Episode 1, the expectations of the fans are increased and are very excited to Watch Game of Thrones season 7 Episode 2 online.

  14. I don't Watch Game of Thrones until the season comes out on Netflix DVDs. Then I binge watch!

I mostly support my author friends on my blog by giving them guest spots or doing a mini-review with a short Q&A. So many of my friends are excellent writers that I'm way behind in my reading. At least, I'll never run out of good books that way. :D

  15. I had to skip what you said about GoT because I watch it when the season is over. ;)

  16. Loved the first episode—especially the first scene, and Lyanna Mormont.

We've made quite a few trips to Goodwill lately. And I'm amazing how much stuff there still is in my house.

  17. I hadn't known about the cyber bullying and cults in the writing world. Wow.

What? Cousins?! I guess I'm not caught up with the GoT story...

  18. I've seen the first couple of episodes of GOT, but that's about it. It's not like the story isn't good, but I just don't have the time to watch it. Maybe one day.
